Ever since Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) was formed back in 2012 and started the two projects known as Star Citizen and Squadron 42; they have grown through an unusual format. CIG has used the format of Crowdfunding as the way to grow their games and company. These backers are a part of what people call the Star Citizen Community. A community of gamers that have taken this project and made it a part of their lives.
Why should you join this community? I asked Jake Bradley, who was a backer himself until he got hired by CIG to be one of the community managers and in charge of the Star Citizen Development Roadmap.
Jake said, “Before they hired me to become a community manager, I was a backer of this game. I was and am still a part of the Star Citizen community. The love of this community that it has for each other is so different from other games. We support each other in game and out. We support the creativity of individuals and have made great friends along the way. Friends from over the world and we all have in common is a game that we are helping to develop. I wouldn’t have my current job now if I wasn’t a part of this community.”
CIG has been heavily involved in supporting the community as well. With content to do in game and CIG staff have shown what gamers call, “In Real-Life events.” A good example is what the community calls Bar Citizen. Bar Citizen is a general term for any meetup of Star Citizen, that is run by the fans, for the fans. With the wholehearted support of CIG.
The Star Citizen Community has many aspects of it. Another unique part of the community is the content it produces. There is something for any creative person or just a gamer to find something in this community. Take a step into this community and try it out. Buy a game package and find what you love in this community.
